Solid Lift Truck Tire Safety
Roughly 200 deaths ever year are a result of mishaps which involve forklifts, or lift trucks. Correct inspection and maintenance of forklift tires could truly help to reduce the risk of mishaps.

Pre-Work Inspection
The tires on the lift truck must be checked at the start of every shift, inspected for indications of damage and wear. The air pressure in the tires must be inspected to ensure the pressure is not too low. Having a tire pressure that is low could make the equipment prone to tip-overs while lifting loads.

Types of Tires
The choice of tire type should be based on the type of surface wherein the lift truck would be used. For indoor use, lift trucks with solid rubber tires are recommended. For smoother surfaces, tires tend to be smaller. Larger pneumatic tires are best for lift trucks being used outdoors. Pneumatic tires could grip well on surfaces that are rough because they have rubber tread and are air-filled.

Other Considerations
Any lift truck used on a continual basis should be checked at the end of every shift, according to Occupational Health and Safety Administration guidelines. The tires should be checked once more for any sign of damage, like for example wear or cuts.

Lift truck Safety
If you or your employees will be using forklifts, correct training in forklift safety is essential. Lift truck mishaps can cause serious personal injuries or death and lead to unmanageable financial hardship. Even minor accidents can cost you and your company money if the forklift or the merchandise are damaged in an accident. Be sure you really know a lot concerning forklift safety issues.
