Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to store supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage places orderly. The reach truck is available in several types: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are only one pallet in depth.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is similar to the stand-up, is frequently used. This particular model consists of telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not just slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This particular model is best in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Normally more than one kind of reach truck is needed inside warehouses. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to utilize and can increase productivity while making the most of available storage space.
